Occupying a second, temporary venue, Paradise Row proudly presents Zelda Rubinstein, a group show named in honour of the fabulous Holllywood actress who memorably starred in the Poltergeist movies as the small, weird, old medium. Set in an 18th century Huguenot house whose material substance and surfaces serve as a palimpsest of sorts for the psychic (and to a lesser extent for the merely imaginative), the show brings together work clustered around the related subjects of history, memory, ghosts and hauntings. It pays homage to some of the previous inhabitants of the house, from the Huguenots who, legend tells us, constructed their homes from the timbers of the ships that carried them across the sea, to Abraham Issac Kook, leading Zionist who left Princelet Street soon after the Balfour Declaration in 1917 to become in turn, Rabbi of Jerusalem and Chief Rabbi of the British Mandate for Palestine.
